    I keep trying to investigate the light in the grotto but it keeps telling me i have to turn off the lights in the cave first, I can't do that without being stuck at the beginning of the cave though?

    You need to have the engine running in order to check out the light.  Also though, you can always turn back on the lights in the cave :)
